Finished: Angel Jacket

Here it is...

And some details...
Increases on the shoulders

Button and my first ever crochet

Press stud fastenings

The pattern was from an old (80's) Phildar book. It was knitted with Patons DK cotton in White and Lilac and with 4mm aluminium needles.

I'm really quite please with this. I think it might have been better knitted in the 4 Ply rather than the DK cotton. My gauge was a bit off- the yarn type wasn't clear in the pattern so I just picked a yarn and went for it. Maybe the 4 Ply would have made this less bulky.
I changed 2 things from the pattern.
One was the double crochet and crab stitch all around the edges. I decided just to do one row (does crochet have rows?) of double crochet down the front edges. I think it matches the cast on/off edges quite well.
The other change was the button loops (which I didn't really know how to make). I used press studs as the fastenings and sewed the buttons on after for decoration. Buttons are just a pain when you are dressing a baby anyway.
I really enjoyed knitting this. The fact that there were only two sleeve seams to sew was nice. I've mastered one type of increase and can crochet an edging now (kind of). I would knit it again, but probably in a lighter yarn.

It is indeed very, very cute (and my daughter nearly spilled Ribena over it - I'm sooo glad she didn't).

Congratulations!
